Fashion brand retailer USC enters administration and becomes the latest victim of the slump in High Street sales.
Throughout its 18 year history USC has been a leading retailer of branded clothing, footwear and accessories, building an impressive portfolio of fashion brands including Diesel, G-Star, Firetrap, Miss Sixty, Replay, Ted Baker and Lacoste.
Of the 58 stores, 15 will close immediately but the remaining 43 will be temporarily saved by a "pre-pack" deal negotiated between the administrators and Sir Tom Hunter, the fashion chain's financial backer.
With the prediction that the slow down in High Street sales is to worsen in 2009, questions are raised about how long a vulnerable fashion retailer like USC can now last.
