In 1987 two British surfers were fed up with constantly losing or breaking their watches during surfing. They put their heads together and came up with a webbing and Velcro watch strap which could withhold any weather condition. This was the beginning of the surf brand Animal.
They sold their watchstraps in small quantities to fellow surfers and with their small fortune, went off surfing to Australia and Hawaii on storm chasing adventures.
Aiming their market at extreme sports enthusiasts including mountain bikers, snowboarders, surfers, skateboarders, and windsurfers, the brand developed into weatherproof sports watches and has since evolved to be one of the UK’s most successful sports action brands.
The surf-based style is popular with both men and women and has now evolved into a successful worldwide brand producing a trendy clothing range, luggage, eyewear, footwear, accessories, and of course watches.
